ASN - Aids Support Network - San Luis Obispo County

About Us

The San Luis Obispo County AIDS Support Network (ASN), a United Way Partner Agency, was founded in 1984 by a small group of county residents as a grassroots response to the AIDS pandemic. ASN remains the sole community based, non-profit organization in SLO County that provides supportive services to residents living with HIV disease and AIDS, their families and their friends. The agency strives to improve the quality of life and independence of its clients by providing support on an individual basis

The ASN staff works closely with a large pool of dedicated volunteers in coordinating client services and agency fundraising events, and has built lasting partnerships with other non-profits in our community.

The ASN receives funding from a variety of sources, such as:

  • United Way
  • San Luis Obispo County
  • The City of San Luis Obispo
  • FEMA
  • The Ryan White HIV CARE Act
  • Housing Opportunities for People With AIDS (HOPWA)
  • Broadway Cares - Equity Fights AIDS
  • Annual fundraising events
  • Corporate and private donations

WORLD AIDS DAY

The AIDS Support Network is working with local schools, businesses and the Mission to present three Human AIDS Ribbons in the community, commemorating World AIDS Day.

We partnered with Cal Poly and SLO High School successfully in the past and they are, once again, going to create these ribbons to raise awareness of HIV and AIDS in the community and around the world.  This year, if you are not connected with those two campuses, you can participate by wearing a red shirt and going to Mission Plaza to be part of the ribbon there.  Click on the location to follow the links on Facebook to each site:

Cal Poly:  11:30 a.m.

SLO High School:  12:15 p.m.

Mission Plaza:  12:45 p.m.

Make this a new annual event for you, your friends and your co-workers!
